The arrogant, be-wigged, and distinctly over-the-hill Hollywood action hero Jefferson Steele, star of several films famously short on dialogue, attempts to revive his career by publicly accepting an invitation to perform King Lear in Stratford - only to find himself in the sleepy village of Stratford St John with a bunch amateurs trying to save the dilapidated barn that serves as their theatre. Fending off the unwanted attentions of the owner of the local B&B, and the animosity of the groups' own leading man, Jefferson struggles to prove to the director, as well as to himself, that he can really act.
