Event: Artists in Residence
In case you're wondering what is happening in Sprout Arts - we have offered two local artists a residency in our gallery throughout January.
Today (Saturday from 2 to 5pm) both artists will be there, ready to answer any questions and talk about their work, we hope lots of people will pop in and there will be drinks for Sprout members!
A residency can provide artists with many opportunities: a chance to change direction, to experiment with new ideas, or consolidate an idea with the time and space to focus on it. No one knows what type of work will appear and this is both the challenge and the exciting side of a residency.
The two artists will have very different approaches, Andrea Robinson is an experienced multi-media artist, printmaker, performer and poet, who has worked with Tino Sehgal at Tate Turbine Hall and has collections archived at the V&A and The British Library. Maddie Rose Hills is an emerging artist whose paintings have been acquired by BA and featured in magazines and The Evening Standard. They will share the gallery space, with flexible opening times, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and weekends, and anyone who is interested can come in and chat to them about their creative process, we also hope to have talks and workshops - if you are interested, are part of a youth group or art group please get in touch!
